My Approach

I highly value my clients and strive to be flexible in the therapeutic approaches I use. While I predominantly work from a systemic perspective by exploring individual, relational, and environmental factors that are impacting my clients’ functioning, I also utilize various evidenced-based approaches, including interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, and solution-focused, to tailor treatment to identified presenting concerns. I truly value my role as a mental health professional and consider it an honor to join my clients in working toward newfound understanding and personal growth. I view therapy as a collaborative practice and, thus, work with my clients to ensure that the treatment goals set are agreed upon mutually. I work to provide my clients with a safe and supportive space where they can be challenged to seek new perspectives, alter maladaptive behaviors, and develop a greater sense of agency over their decision-making. My goal is to promote behavioral transformation by encouraging a positive outlook and the adoption of new attitudes and reactions.

While I fully believe in the power of talk therapy, I also recognize that change does not simply happen from engaging in the therapeutic process alone. I believe that regular self-exploration and self-care are critical to our well-being and, as such, work to incorporate that into my own life as well by spending quality time with family, exercising outdoors with close friends, catching up on Netflix tv series, or simply taking a few minutes to focus on my breathing. Given that prioritizing oneself is critical to achieving success within therapy, I also incorporate mindfulness and self-care practices into my work with clients, as appropriate, to foster progress toward change.
